Eddie Medina – Professional Background

he/him/his

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and Substance Use Disorder Professional, holding a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University. My goal is to enrich your therapeutic journey by seamlessly blending knowledge with a down-to-earth approach.

Since 2018, I’ve been passionately dedicated to uplifting teens and young adults, especially those from underserved backgrounds. I specialize in guiding individuals through trauma treatment and recovery, committing to fostering a life free from the impacts of untreated wounds.

As a therapist of Mexican-American heritage, I prioritize cultural sensitivity and empathy, forming meaningful connections with those seeking my assistance. My approach is rooted in cultural sensitivity, empathy, and a deep understanding of psychology and spirituality, fostering meaningful connections with my clients.

Specialization and Focus

Recognizing the importance of relationships, I’ve expanded my focus to include couples’ work. I offer support through challenges, nurturing healthier connections. Understanding the unique dynamics within relationships, I strive to create a safe space for couples to navigate and strengthen their bond.

Beyond my role as a therapist, I see myself as a catalyst for positive transformation and growth. As a father of five children, I am not just an advocate but a living example of the power of resilience and change. My ultimate goal is to provide comprehensive support to individuals and couples facing complex challenges, firmly believing in the potential of each person.

I specialize in adolescents, young adults (ages 13 to 30), and their partners, addressing challenges such as depression, anxiety, substance use, thoughts of suicide, and post-traumatic stress. Employing a therapeutic toolbox, including modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices, I guide individuals on a journey toward healing, self-discovery, and empowerment.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic toolbox includes modalities like CBT and DBT, along with therapeutic orientations such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT),
Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based & trauma-informed theory, compassion-focused/humanistic therapy, phenomenological/existential approaches,
& transpersonal therapy. These diverse modalities serve as the foundation for my practice and guide my interactions with clients.

Firmly believing in the transformative power of connection, I engage in meaningful conversations to foster personal growth. My approach combines evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, non-judgmental demeanor, acknowledging the intricate layers of unique experiences.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I find joy in family moments, nature’s embrace, live music concerts, and even learning to play the drums.
