Carly Beaulieu, MA, LMFT

Carly Beaulieu – Professional Background

she/her/hers

I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFTA) in Washington State. I earned my Master’s (MA) in Counseling: Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from the City University of Seattle. Additionally, I hold a Certificate in Play Therapy from Antioch University and a Bachelor’s (BA) in Psychology from Western Washington University.

My internship took place at a community mental health agency, where I worked with children and families from systemically underserved and marginalized communities. I am committed to being anti-racist, neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+ and polycule-affirming, and sex-positive.

I am a proud member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Association for Play Therapy.

My belief in creating a neutral, judgment-free, and confidential space drives my practice. I find great joy in understanding individuals, their unique lives, and circumstances, and offering a warm and trustworthy presence for them to confide in and grow with.

Specialization and Focus

I specialize in the following areas: Infant & Maternal/Parental Mental Health: I support parents during the perinatal and postnatal phases, addressing concerns like anxiety, OCD, depression, and adjustment. Play Therapy & Childhood: With expertise in play therapy, I engage children aged 3 to 12, covering attachment, trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, gender, and LGBTQIA+ issues. I’m also skilled in sandtray therapy, Theraplay, and Filial/Child-Parent Relationship Therapy. Parenting: I guide parents through challenges, fostering healthy relationships and providing effective parenting strategies. Couples Therapy: Specializing in couples therapy, I’ve trained in the Gottman Method and EFT, focusing on communication, intimacy, and personalized approaches.

Drawing from diverse approaches, I provide comprehensive support for individuals, families, and couples, helping them overcome challenges and find fulfillment.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach integrates expressive and art therapy, play therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and interpersonal neurobiology. By combining attachment and playfulness, individuals explore their thoughts, feelings, and needs. Sessions are tailored: Child Clients: Sessions involve play, art, music, touch, and breathing techniques. Caregiver sessions address expectations, child development, attachment, and parenting strategies. Teen Clients: Sessions encompass expressive art, creative activities, and verbal communication. Couples/Adults: Sessions feature conversations, regulation techniques, psychoeducation, and art/play activities. Homework supports skill practice between sessions.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I enjoy spending my time with family, reading, vegan cooking, gardening (especially houseplants), feeling the sunshine or rain, and dreaming of traveling.
