Samantha Yee – Professional Background
she/her
I’m a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Antioch University Seattle, where I’m currently completing my practicum and working toward licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I earned my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Hawai’i.
My passion for mental health is rooted in both personal experience and professional commitment. I’ve worked in a variety of behavioral health settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, school-based programs, and outpatient clinics. As an Asian American clinician-in-training, I bring a strong commitment to cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and social justice. I’ve been a member of the American Counseling Association since 2024.
Specialization and Focus
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and complex psychiatric conditions—including schizophrenia. I also have a strong interest in supporting individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. With a background in working with neurodivergent youth, especially children with autism, I approach therapy through a strengths-based, inclusive lens.
Therapeutic Approach
I bring warmth, curiosity, and presence to my sessions. My therapeutic style is rooted in humanistic and feminist principles that center authenticity, empowerment, and cultural responsiveness. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients build insight, shift patterns, and take steps toward healing, at their own pace.
When I’m not doing therapy…
When I’m not in session, I enjoy freediving, collecting seashells, making music, skiing, and exploring creative outlets. I also love catching a wave (or at least trying) whenever I get the chance.
